So you want to be a trauma therapist? What you will need to be successful the first year
This training is for counseling students and practicing therapists interested in exploring the field of trauma therapy.
1. Participants will gain understanding of the history of trauma and mental health services
2. Participants will gain and understanding of the development of trauma theory
3. Participants will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
4. Participants will explore issues of vicarious trauma and self-care will also be addressed.

III. Lecture: The history of Trauma – overview of historical viewpoints toward trauma in the field of mental health.
IV. Lecture: Understanding Post Traumatic Stress in the context of mental health services.
V. Small group activity: Recognizing a traumatized client
