PAAR joined with Chatham University to bring volunteer training to campus
We are proud to have conducted our fourth “Maymester” class bringing our Volunteer Training to students at Chatham.
PAAR’s intensive 40-hour volunteer training, prepares volunteers to assist and support survivors calling the hotline. The Volunteer Training is usually offered at PAAR on the South Side twice a year, but travels to Squirrel Hill every May to engage students and community members in helping survivors of sexual violence access services. Our Volunteer Training has been tailored to fit into Chatham’s 5 week “Maymester” which allows students to receive valuable knowledge from adjunct professor (and PAAR employee) Gail Brown, while also earning college credit.
This training is also open to members of the public at no charge (Please call Kathi Leddy at PAAR for further information). Chatham students who are interested in attending a future session of this class should look in PSY 211(undergrad) or 511(graduate level)
Gail says “I’m really enjoying my third round of teaching this course at Chatham. Chatham students are engaged, thoughtful and attentive. I look forward to our continued relationship.”
Maymester ran May 3 to May 20.
